Today (April 28) John Bolton, former U.S. National Security Advisor, visited the DPP headquarters, where he was received by Lo Chih-cheng, Legislator and Executive Director of the DPP’s Committee on Policy Research and Coordination; Andrea Yang, DPP Deputy Secretary-General; Hsieh Peifen, DPP Spokesperson and Director of the International Affairs Department; and Alysa Chiu, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department.
The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on issues such as national defense, foreign policy, as well as ways to tackle the authoritarian threat and unite the world’s democracies. Dr. Lo, on behalf of Chairperson Lai Ching-te and Secretary General Hsu Li-ming, expressed gratitude to Ambassador Bolton for showing warm support for Taiwan’s democracy through this trip.
Hsieh notes, Ambassador Bolton served as U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. under President George W. Bush and as National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump, and in these capacities has repeatedly voiced support for Taiwan in the international community. For his many contributions to the robust Taiwan-U.S. partnership, the DPP extends its sincere appreciation.
