Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Toshimitsu Motegi announced today (13th) that Japan is sending a third batch of about 1 million doses of AZ vaccine to Taiwan to help us with fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. DPP Spokesperson Peifen Hsieh stated that the DPP is deeply grateful for Japan’s kindness and generosity.
Spokesperson Hsieh said that at a time when the global variant has brought a new COVID-19 wave to the world, the domestic epidemic situation in Japan is still severe. However, this is the third time the Japanese government has assisted Taiwan with vaccines in two months. Together with the 1.24 million doses in early June and the 1.13 million doses in early July, we have received more than 3.3 million doses of vaccines from Japan. Words cannot express how grateful the Taiwanese people are for their help.
Spokesperson Hsieh emphasized that the friendship between Taiwan and Japan is solid and stable. It is believed that with the concerted efforts of both countries, we can overcome the challenges of the epidemic, return to normal life, and continue to deepen various exchanges and collaborations between Taiwan and Japan. The DPP also would like to take this opportunity to wish the upcoming Tokyo Olympics a complete success.
