The DPP thanks the Slovak government for its announced COVID-19 vaccine donation increase from 10,000 to 160,000 doses to Taiwan. DPP Spokesperson Peifen Hsieh reaffirmed the party’s gratitude and added that the DPP appreciates the generosity of the Slovak government.
Regarding the donation, Slovak Ministry of Economy State Secretary Karol Galek stated that he views the vaccines as an opportunity to thank Taiwan for its 2020 donation of 700,000 medical masks to Slovakia. To this end, Spokesperson Hsieh underscored the significance of the reciprocal donations and stated that they exemplify the two countries’ collaborative approach to handling challenges. The Spokesperson added that the donations also represent the two countries’ commitment to pandemic prevention and showcase the enduring quality of the Taiwan-Slovakia friendship.
The Spokesperson stated that exchanges between Taiwan and Slovakia occur frequently. Indeed, just two weeks ago, Taiwan, the United States, Japan, and Slovakia held a joint Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) conference. Participating countries discussed navigating post-pandemic economic recovery and employment opportunities during the event. Next month, Taiwan Minister of National Development Council Kung Ming-hsin will lead a business delegation to Slovakia. These exchanges showcase the exchanges between Taiwan and Slovakia. The DPP is grateful for Slovakia’s support of Taiwan and values its friendship with the country.
