Today (9th), Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu and Somaliland’s first Representative to Taiwan Mohamed Omar Hagi Mohamoud held an unveiling ceremony for the Somaliland Representative Office in Taiwan. DPP Spokesperson Peifen Hsieh claimed this is a concrete development of good relations between Somaliland and Taiwan.
Spokesperson Hsieh stated that both Taiwan and Somaliland seriously value the establishment of the Somaliland Representative Office in Taiwan. President of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi expressed his blessings over a video, claiming that Taiwan and Somaliland are both members of the democratic camp and should use such common values to develop good relations between the two countries further.
Spokesperson Hsieh expressed that in 2009, Taiwan and Somaliland had already been cooperating in areas such as medical care, education, and maritime security. The opening of this representative office marks a new chapter in Taiwan’s diplomacy, and the DPP awaits the future ability to cooperate closely on trade relations and protect their shared values of freedom and democracy.
Spokesperson Hsieh emphasizes that the DPP thanks the hard work of front-line diplomats, and as long as the two countries continue to rally and work hard, Taiwan will undoubtedly be able to advance into the world.
