A second U.S. donation of 1.5 million COVID-19 vaccines to Taiwan will arrive on August 1. As a result, the country will now possess a total of 4 million U.S.-donated Moderna vaccine doses. In response to this donation, DPP Spokesperson Peifen Hsieh expresses her sincere gratitude for U.S. efforts to help Taiwan combat the pandemic.
According to the Spokesperson, the U.S. announced its first donation of vaccines to Taiwan in June. Following its initial announcement of the 750,000 dose donation, the U.S. increased this donation to 2.5 million doses. Today, the U.S. announced yet another donation of 1.5 million doses to Taiwan. The DPP sincerely thanks the U.S. for this second donation and maintains that the donations exemplify the two countries' shared commitment to fighting the pandemic.
Spokesperson Hsieh reaffirms Director of the American Institute in Taiwan Sandra Oudkirk's October 29 statement regarding the strength of Taiwan-U.S. relations: "We believe in deepening our engagement and connections with the people of Taiwan consistent with U.S. interests." The DPP cherishes the support and friendship of the U.S. In addition, the Party thanks Taiwan Representative to the United States, Bi-khim Hsiao, and other frontline diplomatic personnel for their contributions and deepening of Taiwan-U.S. relations.
